December 16, 2024 - I discussed ways of thinking about possible futures of the US Indo-Pacific Strategy in the final panel of the Indo-Pacific Future Forum 2024, hosted by the Nepal Institute for International Cooperation and Engagement (NIICE) in Kathmandu. Session 10: Future of the Indo-Pacific Strategy.

November 19, 2024 - I delivered framing remarks for the East-West Center in Washington's webinar on Indian Ocean security and the US Indo-Pacific Strategy. This event builds on the October Asia Pacific Bulletin series that I guest edited, featuring insights from scholars based in Madagascar, Seychelles, Maldives, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Thailand about their countries’ outlooks toward Indian Ocean security and the US Indo-Pacific Strategy.

October 22, 2024 - I discussed smaller states in the Indian Ocean and how they navigate large powers, presented a framework for understanding them, and provided examples to build out the framework. The webinar was hosted by the Maritime Research Center (MRC) in Pune, India, and organized in partnership with the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies (NESA) in Washington. 

January 26, 2024 - I delivered framing remarks for the East-West Center in Washington's event on the Smaller South Asian Countries and the US Indo-Pacific Strategy in 2024. This event builds on the 2023 Asia Pacific Bulletin series for which I served as Guest Editor featuring expert insights from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka about the US Indo-Pacific Strategy. 

November 16, 2023 - I gave a presentation at the Indian Navy's Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue (IPRD 2023), the service's annual apex strategic international conference organized by the National Maritime Foundation. My research examined China's influence on ports, shipping, and trade with the Indian Ocean island states of Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Comoros, and Madagascar.

October 31, 2023 - I spoke on a panel organized by the Stimson Center's South Asian Voices. My comments analyzed US strategy and policy toward the Smaller South Asian countries among other topics.

October 16, 2023 - I delivered the keynote address at the Regional Centre for Strategic Studies (RCSS) conference on "Ocean Security: South Asia and the Indian Ocean" in Sri Lanka. The Daily Morning newspaper published my remarks in two parts.

April 18, 2023 - I testified at a US House Foreign Affairs Committee Indo-Pacific Subcommittee hearing hosted by Chairwoman Young Kim on "Surrounding the Ocean: PRC Influence in the Indian Ocean." My oral testimony summarized my written statement, which identifies 3 US objectives in the Indian Ocean, plus several enablers of stability and constraints on China in the Indian Ocean.

May 10, 2022 - I discussed the non-traditional security issues of IUU fishing and disaster resilience in the context of US-India maritime security cooperation in the Indian Ocean. George Washington University-Christ University (Bangalore). Report available. 

February 28, 2022 - I provided a US perspective on the new Indo-Pacific Strategy document for this Observer Research Foundation event.

December 12, 2021 - I provided an extraregional perspective on Sri Lanka as a small state in international affairs for this event, organized by The Awarelogue Initiative and the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA).
